The “tireless” work of the economic development team was also a factor. It included Starkey’s group, city officials, and even Verizon Corp. employees who moved a fiber that ran below the site.
The original lead came through the regional economic development group, The Indy Partnership.
“It’s a tremendous win for the city of Anderson, the people of Madison County and entire central Indiana region,” President Gordon Hendry. “You know many people have toiled long hours to make it happen. All those people deserve a hardy pat on the back.”
The company is a good addition to not only the local economy, but the state economy, Gov. Mitch Daniels said.
“This is a high-technology business by any description,” he said. The milk and creamer will be shipped using ambient technology, which will allow the product to stay fresh without refrigeration.
“This is a signal to the world that Anderson, Ind., is a prime location for business,” Mayor Kevin Smith said. “This is a great day to be an Andersonian.”
