PENDLETON — A Chesterfield woman was killed and her three children were transported to Indianapolis hospitals after a vehicle accident Monday night.

Victoria Henson, 28, was driving westbound on Indiana 38 just east of Indiana 13 near Pendleton, when her car left the road and hit a steel utility pole, according to Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger.

The accident was reported to law enforcement at 8:45 p.m.

“It was raining and windy,” Mellinger said. “It appears that she got off the roadway slightly and the shoulder was extremely soggy and those kind of conditions just pull the car right off the roadway.”

Henson’s three children were in the car with her at the time of the accident.

Mellinger said the woman's 9-year-old daughter was being treated for facial lacerations and a possible broken arm, her 6-year-old daughter suffered skull and facial fractures along with a broken left arm; and her 3-year-old son had a severe laceration to his face.

Ind. 38 was closed for about two hours Monday night following the accident.
