Pippa Mann talks about challenges to finance Indy 500 entry

Indy 500 veteran Pippa Mann, seeking to qualify for her seventh race in May, discusses the challenges of financing a team for the race and the work behind the scenes, at a Wake Up! breakfast in April 2018 at Ivy Tech Community College.

ANDERSON — The Madison County Chamber of Commerce has announced guest speakers for its summer and fall Wake Up! Madison County breakfasts.

The three presentations share an emphasis on helping local leaders navigate the constantly changing business world, according to a press release from the chamber.

These three Wake Up! breakfasts will be hosted at St. Vincent Anderson Hospital, 2015 Jackson St., starting at 7:15 a.m. Scheduled guest speakers are:

• June 21 — Kristin Tomich, “Your Health IS Your Business”

Tomich, corporate health consultant with St. Vincent Wellness Works, will highlight habits to incorporate into your daily routine to improve health and your company’s success.

• Sept. 20 — Kristen Cooper, “How will we identify, educate and fund the next wave of entrepreneurs starting scalable companies in Anderson?”

Cooper is CEO and founder of The Startup Ladies, which identifies, educates, connects and increases investment in women entrepreneurs starting scalable businesses. Founded in 2014 by Cooper, the membership organization hosts programming for budding entrepreneurs and first-time investors. Anyone (men included) with a passion for startups and investing is invited.

• Nov. 15 — Dr. Gary Bertoline, “How to Survive the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Technology Game Changers”

Bertoline is the dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and a distinguished professor of computer graphics technology and computer and information technology at Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. at Ohio State University and was on the faculty in the college of engineering there for three years before going to Purdue in 1990.

The cost for the full breakfast buffet, program and networking is $20 for chamber members and $28 for general admission.
