FRANKTON — Robert Lee Nighbert, 80, died July 3, 2008, at Community Hospital Anderson.

Robert was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Anderson to the late Clarence and Nellie Nighbert.

He graduated from Gaston High School in 1945.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Pearl (Hull) Nighbert, whom he married Jan. 25, 1969.

Robert retired from Guide Corporation on Dec. 1, 2005, after 59 1/2 years of employment.

He was a member of Knights of Pythias, Frankton; Orestes Lodge, D.O.K.K., New Castle; UAW Local 663; and Frankton Lions Club; He served as Past President of the following: Frankton K of P - IOOF Cemetery, Frankton Town Board, Heritage Days and was Parade Chairman of Heritage Days for 21 years.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl (Hull) Nighbert of Frankton; sons, Rob Boyer and his daughter, Abby Boyer, of Frankton, Larry Nighbert and wife, Phyllis, of Osgood, Ind., Roger Nighbert and fiancee, Donna, of North Vernon, and Dick Boyer and wife, Rosie, of Anderson; daughters, Sheila Ochoa and husband, Jr., of Frankton, Joyce Goodman and husband, Mike, of Alexandria, Diana Gibson and husband, Tom, of Anderson, Vicky Cantrell and husband, Tony, of Alexandria, Debbie Savage and husband Jim of Alexandria and Deanna Smith and husband, Dan, of Sharpsville, Ind.; 23 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Norman Nighbert, Buddy Boyer and Bobbie Boyer; sister, Peggy Bishop; and grandchildren, Tony Ochoa and Angie Nighbert.

Services 11 a.m. Monday at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home., Frankton, with the Rev. Courtley Granger of Orestes Christian Church officiating. Burial at the K of P - IOOF Cemetery, Frankton.

Visitation 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made, through the funeral home, to Knights of Pythias of Frankton.
