James ‘Jim’ Kirtley

Aug. 20, 1958 - Feb. 13, 2012

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — James “Jim” Kirtley, 53, of Alexandria, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1958, in Muncie, the son of Charles and Norma Jean (Mauck) Kirtley. He graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1976. On March 17, 1989, he married Kimberly Sue (Smith) Kirtley.

James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family.  He worked for TK Constructors for 12 years. He was active in 4-H and enjoyed horses, race horses and trail riding. He raced horses at Hoosier Park.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Kim Kirtley of Alexandria; parents, Charles and Norma Jean Kirtley of Gaston; one son, Dustin; three daughters, Hailey, Brittney and Chelsie; two brothers, Terry Kirtley (Sandy) of Hartford City and Jerry Kirtley (Dianna) of Gaston; two sisters, Cinda McKibben (Greg) of Gaston, and Julie Swartz (Mike) of Muncie; one granddaughter, Lyllian; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gaston United Methodist Church, 105 N. Main St., Gaston, with Pastor John Long officiating. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery in Gaston.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Garden View Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Madison County 4-H Club.
