---- — ANDERSON -- India Patrice Lewis was given her angel wings on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness. Her final days were spent with her daughter Maryaj and her mother Patricia by her side.
India’s life of 24 years would seem too short to many people, but those who were touched by her life understand the good times spent with her far exceeds the short time we had with her. Her beautiful smile could melt the heart of those around her and light up a room. We will always remember her laughter, words of wisdom and kindness. She had a way of getting things straight with only a few words...like only she could do.
India accepted Christ at the age of seven and was baptized by Rev. May. She most recently attended New Covenant Church. India attended Anderson High School.
India has one beautiful daughter, Maryaj Nevaeh Shetrice Lewis. She is survived by her father, Rodney Lewis and her devoted mother, Patricia Chamberlain. India has two brothers, JayMar (Ashley) Dickerson and Rodre (Krystal) Lewis; grandmothers, Claudia Kelley and Beverly Lewis; aunts, Shelitha (Thomas) Fedricks, Carla (Philipe) Gochett; uncles, Benjamin (Judy) Gochett Jr., Michael Weatherly, Marcus (Tracie) Gochett.
Although India’s illness made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance and ability to overcome incredible physical challenges. Her courage showed us that each day is a blessing from God. Her last words were filled with her big personality and strong will.
Private services will be held.
