---- — FRANKTON — Emily J. Brown, 93, lifelong resident of Frankton, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Emily was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Frankton, the daughter of Ezra and Sadie (Clegg) Deaton.
On March 10, 1945, she married Robert M. Brown, he passed away on Dec. 31, 1993.
Emily retired from Frankton-Lapel Schools after many years of service. She was a member of the Bethany Christian Church, Bethany Keenagers and the Eastern Star. Emily enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to watch basketball and was an avid IU, Pacers, and especially Frankton Eagles fan.
Emily’s family includes two daughters, Peggy Farley of Frankton, Betsy and (Tom) Beeman of Anderson; grandsons, Chris and (Jessica) Farley, Alex and (Nikki) Beeman and Aaron Beeman; great-grandchildren, Morgann and Bobby Farley; sister, Sadie Post of Frankton; several nieces and nephews.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Georgia Hartley, Catherine Lee and Freda Parker; and a brother, Oliver Deaton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Bell officiating. Burial will follow at K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Bethany Christian Church or Frankton Christian Church.
