---- — MUNCIE — Juanita LaRose (Hughes) Broderick, 83, Muncie, died Feb. 13, 2014, at The Woodlands, Muncie, after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Alexandria, the daughter of Nutter Hughes and Georgia (Tennel) Hughes, and lived in the Alexandria/Muncie area all of her lifetime.
Juanita was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1948. Early on she was employed at Guide Lamp, formerly of Anderson. After receiving her degree as a medical technologist, Juanita was employed at Saint John’s Hospital in Anderson and Medical Consultants in Muncie. She attended the Riverside Presbyterian Church of Muncie. Juanita will be remembered for her devotion to her family as well as her compassion and benevolence.
Survivors include her husband, John C. Broderick, whom she married Feb. 23, 1968; son, Rick J. (Teresa (Kellow) Cox of Muncie; three grandsons, Adrian Joshua (Zhenya) Cox of Greencastle, Ryan Justin (Summer) Cox of Anderson, and Zachary J. (Cynthia) Cox of Mackinaw, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, Colin Cox, Catarina Cox, Corinne Cox, Gabriel Cox, Zoe Cox, Luke Cox, Mack Fallon and Ava Fallon; sister, Shirley Hughes King of Smith Lake, Ala.; nephew, Kevin Windsor; and nieces, Shawna Windsor Slate and Marcia Stanley Strong.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Nutter and Georgia Hughes; and sister, Donna Hughes Stanley.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with her grandsons, Adrian Cox, Ryan Cox and Zachary Cox officiating. Private interment will follow the services in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
