ANDERSON — Andrew “Andy” Short, 79, of Anderson, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. He passed away at home surrounded by his family.
Andrew was born in Celina, Tenn., on Nov. 12, 1934, to the late Albert and Dora Elizabeth (Boles) Short. Andrew retired from Delco Remy after 32 1/2 years and was a member of the Local 662. He loved to play cards, widdle, bluegrass music and spending time with his family. Andrew was a member at Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Sheilarose (Burkert) Short; loving son, Timothy (Amy) Short; grandchildren, Kasey, Shelby, Cody, Tony, Tia, Tatesha Short and Brandy Emmons; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Barbara, Kaylen, Ashlynn, Malayla, Cameron, Emily, Bobby, Britelyn, Elijah, Aliyah, Addison and Natalie; sister, Ola Walker; brothers, Jim (Lorrena) Short, Marvin (Joyce) Short, Shelby (Mildred) Short, Edward (Mary) Short; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Kate (Short) Boils; parents; in-laws, John and Ethel (Day) Burkert; several brothers and sisters.
The family wants to thank Amy Short for being a great caretaker, Community Hospice, and all their staff.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 504 W. Ninth St. Anderson, with the funeral service at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest at East Maplewood Cemetery.
