ANDERSON — Edward Philip Childs, 76, of Anderson passed away Feb. 21, 2014, at Community Hospital, Anderson. He was born Sept. 12, 1937, in Wheeling, W.Va., and resided most of his life in Anderson.
He was retired from General Motors after 34 years of service.
He served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a member of Anderson Radio Club. He was also a member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
Edward is survived by his wife, Joina Childs of Anderson; daughter, Cheryl (Martin) Salisbury of Trinity, Ala.; son, William Scott Childs of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Brandon Salisbury, Sean Salisbury, Cory Salisbury and Madison Childs; brother and sister-in-laws, Rex Jordan (Jaunita) of Daleville and Patty Linder of Anderson; and three great-grandsons. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Childs; father, Floyd Childs; brothers, John Thomas Childs, James Childs and Joseph Childs; sisters, Sarah Jane Jines, Joan Grace Childs, Milicent Syrylo, Nancy Childs, Kathleen Wilson and Margaret Chaykowsky.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, Anderson.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor John Hackney officiating.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
