Doug Stuart

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Doug Stuart, 41, passed away at his residence Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 22, 1971, in Muncie, the son of John “Tony” and Vicky (Sayre) Stuart. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1990 and graduated from Indiana University in 1994.

Doug was in management at Maxon Corp. in Muncie as a sales engineer before he relocated to Vancouver, Wash., where he continued to work in sales for several different companies and traveled for months at a time to different job sites around the country.

A true outdoorsman, Doug loved camping, fishing, boating, hunting and spending time with his wife and many friends. When he wasn’t at work, you could find him enjoying nature. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching games with his buddies.  

Survivors include his father, John “Tony” Stuart (wife, Terri), Muncie, Ind.; his mother, Vicky Stuart, Yorktown, Ind.; his wife of five years, Traci (Ruth) Stuart and stepson, Anthony, both of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Amber Barnard (fiancé, Tracy Wheat), Muncie, Ind.; nephew, Logan Barnard; special great-aunt, great-uncle and cousin, Marge, Earl and Cindy Mong; special uncle, Tom Stuart (wife, Cindy); stepgrandparents, Robert and Wanda Conrad and Willis and Anita Ginder; several other aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends; and his two beloved bulldogs, Dixie and Boo-duh.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Stuart (wife, Barb); paternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Webber (husband, Orville); and his maternal grandparents, Hobart and Theo Sayre.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mount Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, IN 47304, with Dr. Dale Mendenhall officiating.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
