ANDERSON — Rev. Fred MacMillan, 83, of Anderson, passed away on Dec. 14, 2013, at Community Hospital Anderson. He was born on March 17, 1930, in Rosebank, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
He retired from the Church of the Nazarene after 40 years of ministry. During his 20 years of owning Covenant Builders, he built 40 churches.
He received his doctorate of divinity degree from Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern University. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Olivet Nazarene University. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to sing and play the violin. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and dedicated his life to serving others.
Fred is survived by his loving spouse, whom he married Aug. 11, 1956, Jeanette (Morehead) MacMillan; children, Lynette (Tom) Huth, Lucille (Jeff) Helpling and Lauren (Cindy) MacMillan; brother, Lorne (Joyce) MacMillan; grandchildren, Jordan Huth, Payton Huth, Brandon Helpling, Aubrey Helpling, Austin MacMillan, Jessica MacMillan, Evan MacMillan and Chloe MacMillan; great-granddaughter, Lyla Huth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ann (Hardy) MacMillan; father, Charles Leslie MacMillan, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Southdale Church of the Nazarene with Dr. David G. Roland officiating.
Burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
