ANDERSON — Dick Bohnenkamp, 77, of Anderson, passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning on Dec. 12, 2013.
He was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Seymour, Ind., the son of the late Ralph and Wilma (Brockoff) Bohnenkamp. Dick lived a faithful life as a devoted husband, outstanding loving father, grandfather, and a trusting and faithful friend. His spirit lives within his loving wife of 55 years, Teddy Pancol Bohnenkamp.
He was the proud father of his daughter, Rebecca (Scott) Vannatta of Anderson; and his son, Dr. Richard L. (Ric) Bohnenkamp, Jr. of Greenwood. He was compassionate and idolized his five grandchildren, Julia Seitz (fiancé, Tyler Dickerson), Jeffrey Seitz, Jason Vannatta, Sarah Bohnenkamp and Kelly Bohnenkamp. Extended married family surviving are sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Pancol Raikos, Marguerita Pancol Alder, Soteria Pancol Nicholson and George G. Pancol; and several loving nieces and nephews.
His abundance of love for family was poured on by his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Gus and Penelope Pancol; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann Pancol, Sophia Pancol Campbell, Irene Pancol, Jay D. Alder, David Nicholson and Dan Campbell.
Dick graduated from Seymour High School in 1954 and went to Indiana University in Bloomington, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He performed with the Singing Hoosiers and is an alumnus with the Indiana University Foundation. After graduating from IU, Dick served in the United States Army, 316th Chemical Company Reserve.
Dick and Teddy moved to Anderson where he worked and served the community. They were members of the First United Methodist Church. Dick was a loving Christian knowing that God had blessed him in so many ways. His calming presence and love for his fellow man made him a role model for his family and friends. He led by example and taught many to believe in themselves.
