---- — YORKTOWN — Barbara Jo “Jody” Engel, 57, passed away Dec.13, 2013, after a courageous and grace-filled battle with brain cancer. Jody died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends.

Jody was born in New York and as a child moved with her family to Key Biscayne, Fla., where she graduated from Coral Gables High School. After retiring from Pan American World Airways in 1988, she received a bachelor’s degree from Miami Christian College and in 1992 earned a master’s degree in Biblical counseling from Colorado Christian University.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Muncie and was actively involved in her church her entire life in counseling, teaching and ministry to women. She traveled to several countries, including Romania and Barbados, where she taught, worked in orphanages and engaged in various mission works. Jody was a gracious, vibrant, loving woman who loved God and sharing and living out her faith every day. She was a loving wife and mother who cared deeply about her family, and she drew many others into her family circle.

Jody is survived by her husband, Donald; two sons, Donald “Scooter” and Gabriel “Gabe”; and her extended family members, Renee, Barry and Austin Travis of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Joseph and Barbara Jo (Weese) Waegelein; and one brother, Edward Joseph Waegelein, Jr.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2801 W. Riverside, Muncie, with Dr. Gary Cox officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, and from 10 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
