ANDERSON — Bettie J. Balser, 92, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at her home after a long and joyful life.
She was born April 20, 1921, in Alexandria to Pearl Herbert and Beatrice Mae (Penniston) Jarrett.
She was a member of the Lindberg Church of Christ.
She attended Alexandria High School. In 1952, she went to work at Delco Remy, Plant 7, in Anderson.
On Aug. 29, 1958, she married Billie R. Balser. Last August, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
After retirement, she volunteered at Operation Love Ministries for several years.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; sons, Tom Corney-Walker (David) of Newton Abbott, England, Terry Walker (Cheryl) of Muncie, their children, Chad Walker of Fishers, Andrea Logan (Steve) of Muncie, their grandchildren, Morgan Walker, Mackenzie Logan, Zach Walker, and great-grandson, Nathan Walker. Daughter Nancy Walker Remington of Anderson, her sons, Rick Remington of Cayuga, Kevin Remington of Anderson, Dean Remington (Jill) of Owensville, her grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, and Hunter Remington, and great-granddaughter Abby Remington.
Also, sons, Dave Balser of Florida, Bill Balser (Mary Ann) of Wyoming and John Balser of Nebraska, grandchildren, Bruce and Tony Balser, Michelle Swadley of Florida, Robert and Craig Balser, Lisa Garrison of California, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Don Robert Walker; grandson, Monte Walker; brothers, Parvin, Robert, Clayton and Harold Jarrett; sisters, Naomi Jarrett and Violet O’Neel; son-in-law, Terry Remington; daughter-in-law, Shelby Balser; granddaughter-in-law, Tammy Remington; and three great-grandchildren, Blake Walker Logan, and Anthony and Mandy Balser.
Private family services were held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Home, 504 W. Ninth St., Anderson. Burial followed at Nelson Cemetery, Anderson.
