Robert B. Busing

May 28, 1927 - Dec. 22, 2013

ANDERSON — Robert B. Busing, 86, Anderson, passed away Dec. 22, 2013, at Monticello House after an extended illness.

He was born May 28, 1927, to the late Eli and Leona (Montgomery) Busing in Cynthiana. Bob lived in Haubstadt and was a 1945 graduate of Haubstadt High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Panama during World War II. After his time in the service, he graduated from Indiana State University. He was Vice President of Emge Packing Company until his retirement in 1990.

On Feb. 19, 1955, Bob married Mary Jane Emge in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Fort Branch, Ind.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jane Busing of Anderson; four children, Barbara (Wayne) White of Connersville, Kathy (Tom) Barnett of Carmel, Greg Busing of Anderson, Mike (partner, Jake) Busing of Harrisonburg, Va., and former daughter-in-law, Leslie Busing of Avon; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Robby) Coleman, Chrissie White, Gaby White, Bobby White, Danny (finance, Melissa) Barnett, Kevin Barnett, Lauren Busing, Rachel Busing and Courtney Busing.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Tatlock.

Bob was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Elks Lodge, Indianapolis Yacht Club at Geist Reservoir and a past board member of the Wilson Boys Club. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and basketball fan. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and attending Indiana State University basketball games when Larry Bird played college basketball.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
