Debra Rose Prichard

April 23, 1954 - Feb. 28, 2012

ANDERSON, Ind. — Debra Rose Prichard, 57, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012. She died after a short but significant illness with hospitalization, while recuperating in a local nursing home in Anderson.

She was born as the first child to Thomas Paul and Marion (Davis) Prichard in a U.S Army Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., on April 23, 1954. Throughout her childhood and young adulthood, she excelled in school and graduated from Madison Heights High School and went to study at Anderson College. Debra also played the piano and sang in the choir. As a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church of Anderson, she was the assistant treasurer and a choir member for more than 40 years.

Debra was employed by Landmark Accounts of Anderson for over 30 years where she was office manager and administrator over several tax accounts.  

Debra is survived by her only brother, Thomas P. Prichard Jr. of Madison, Ala.; nieces, Payton O. Prichard of Bloomington, Rovan K. Eubanks of Anderson; and step-siblings, Desa Edwards, Norris Edwards, Kathryn Edwards-Ross, and Irene Edwards-Williams, all of Anderson. Other surviving relatives include aunts, Beverly Ray Carter, Linda Montague and Jewel Turner; uncles, Arthur E. Jones Jr. and Clyde E. Jones Sr., all of Baton Rouge, La.; several cousins and other family members in Ohio, California, Missouri, Texas, Mississippi, Illinois, Georgia, Michigan, Louisiana and Alabama. Special friends include Bessie W. Campbell, Dr. Frank Campbell, Judy Rodgers, Sterling Rodgers, Janice McCord, Jessie Collier and Sarah Washington, all of Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Melanie; half sister, Robin; and both sets of grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 1610 Sheridan St., Anderson, with the Rev. John L. Lambert officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Young People’s Department Fund of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in the name of Debra R. Prichard.

The entire family would like to thank Dr. John Woodall and his special team of doctors, nurses and staff at Saint John’s Medical Center and the nursing staff at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center.
