Elder Joseph H. Burt

Jan. 2, 1930 - Dec. 26, 2013

ANDERSON — Elder Joseph H. Burt, 83, of Anderson, Ind., passed away December 26, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Anderson for 63 years.

Joseph was born in Talladega, AL. on January 2, 1930, to Clarence and Mary Taylor Burt. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War and was a military police. He worked 45 years at Delco Remy, a division of General Motors, and retired in 1996. He owned and operated Joseph H. Burt Plastering and successfully operated it for over 30 years.

Elder Joseph Burt loved the Lord and gave his life to Christ; he was a dedicated member of Greater Light Church.

Joseph leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 53 years, Lada (Lady) B. Burt; six children: sons, Larry (Carolynn Parker) Harris, Carl Burt, Rod (Audrea) Burt, all of Anderson, IN., Brian (Marion Mueller) Burt of Germany; daughters, Patricia Milton, Jacksonville, FL., Sandra Gail Highsmith Harris, Anderson, IN.; brothers, Lawrence Burt , Detroit, MI., Raymond (Emma) Burt, Winston, GA.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends; special friends: Charles Dowell ,The Villages, FL., Lonnie Motley Muncie, IN., Rev. John H. Howard, Talladega, AL., Pastor Henry Clayton, Aaron Hill and James King, all of Anderson, IN.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Taylor Burt; brothers, Samuel W. and Hampton Burt; sisters, Ophelia Burt Rutledge, Ruby Burt Wofford, Carrie Burt Brown and Sadie Taylor Medlock.

The family truly would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mares and the C.C.U. nurses at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Greater Light Church, 317 Marine Drive, Anderson, IN, with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday 10 a.m. to noon at the church.

Arrangements entrusted to Glazebrooks Funeral Services.
