LOS ANGELES — Former Anderson resident Craig Dewayne McKinney recently departed this life in Los Angeles, Calif., after a sudden illness.  

Craig graduated from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Ind., and attended IUPUI. Craig was a military veteran and a member of the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, N.C.

He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Catherine M. Steans of Indianapolis, Ind.; father, Gregory J. McKinney of Akron, Ohio. He is also survived by aunts, Regina L. Lander (Edward) of Evansville, Ind., Barbara Jo Rogers (Goldie) of Anderson, Ind.; his uncles, Bobbie D. Cotton, Charles C. Cotton and Louie A. Graves, all of Syracuse, Ind., and Steven D. Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; great-aunt, Katherine G. May (L.C.); great-uncle, Adair Gibbs (Gloria); and a host of other family and friends.

Craig was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Patterson; maternal great-grandmother, Ada Pearl Gibbs; paternal grandmother, Eloise Gardner McKinney; and paternal great-grandmother, Lillie (Honey) Gardner

Craig was laid to rest with full military honors at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
