Don Perechinsky

ESTES PARK, Colo. — Don Perechinsky, 84, passed away March 25, 2013, in Estes Park, Colo., after an extended illness.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose; sister, Ann Sotak, Chicago; daughters, Debbie Ehlers, Indianapolis, Judy Lembcke (husband, Ed) of Anderson, Kristi Trossbach (husband, Simon) of Palm Desert, Calif., Kerri Tierney (husband, Terry) of Estes Park, Colo.; grandchildren, Amber Johnsen (husband, Seth) of Metamora, Ill., Derek Eaton (wife, Amy) of Indianapolis, Autumn Pratt (husband, Jim), Jordan Moore (husband, Brandon), and Emily Adler, all of Palm Desert, Calif., and Finn Tierney of Estes Park, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Gavin and Elyse Johnsen, Rhylee Eaton, Brayden Pratt and Maci Moore.

Don grew up in Archbald, Pa. He moved to Indiana in1 953 and was employed by General Motors for two years before he was hired by the Anderson Police Department in 1955. He was hired as a patrolman and retired in 1979 as inspector assistant chief of police.

He then took on other jobs, such as director for the boys’ juvenile detention home, part time sales for MK Betts Engineering and Contracting, part time driving a truck for Atlas Red-D Mix and working part time as a bailiff for Anderson City Courts.

Don loved woodworking, gardening, cooking, traveling and growing the best tomatoes in Indiana. He enjoyed sharing them with friends and family all over the U.S.  Don was loving, hardworking and devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service is being planned to be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Anderson, Ind., at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Prospect Living Center Activities Department, Prospect Ave. P.O. Box 2740, Estes Park, CO 80517. The employees there took such wonderful care of him and loved him. We are so thankful he was able to be in their care for the past 12 years.
