MIDDLETOWN — Jerry Lynn Chapman, 72, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Henry County, Jan. 15, 1942, the son of Rufus Lowell and Thelma Brown Chapman.
He was a 1962 graduate of Middletown High School and retired from Delphi (General Motors) in 2002.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany.
He was a member of the Middletown Lodge 271 and the Middletown Fall Creek Historical Society.
He was a former Lions Club member and a member of the Upper Fall Creek Church of the Brethern.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie (Kirk) of Middletown; children Tony (Suzanne) Chapman of Windsor, Mo., LeAnn Chapman of Middletown, Marcy Chapman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Scott VanAlst (Lisa) of Plainfield, Conn., and Amy Hancock of Middletown; 12 grandchildren; brother-in-law Phil Ambs of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, Bill Chapman (Janet) of Middletown; sisters Nancy Cook of Luray and Sue Melton (Bob) of Daleville, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ambs.
Celebration services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. 5th St., Middletown, with Rev. Dennis Helton and Marty Ballard officiating.
Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with Masonic services at 8 p.m.
