PATTERSON, Ga. — Richard Thomas “Dick” Hughes, 84, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 2014, at his daughter’s residence.
Born in Alexandria, Ind., on June 12, 1929, he had lived in Arkansas for many years before moving to Patterson in 2013. He retired after 37 years as a line worker with Delco Remy and was a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, whittling, and woodworking.
He was a son of the late Frank S. Sr. and Euphrates Patterson Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Hall Hughes; an infant son, Thomas Mark Hughes; and by all five of his brothers and both of his sisters.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Berry Morgan of Patterson; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Patty Hughes of New Castle, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Courtney Morgan, Chelsea (Clay) Williams, Barron Morgan, Nate (Brooke) Hughes, Mallory (Dusty) Houser and Berry Morgan Jr.; a great-grandchild, Rhonda Caplinger; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will have a memorial service for Mr. Hughes at a later time.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
