ANDERSON -- Malcolm "Mike" V. Young, 78, of Anderson passed away on Nov. 17, 2013, following an extended illness at Edgewater Woods Nursing Home.
Born on Jan. 31, 1935, in Anderson, at home to Ernest Young and Hazel (Wilson) Young, he was raised in Anderson. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1955.
He worked for Delco Remy at various plants and retired in 1992 after working for 33 years. The last plant he worked at was Plant 17.
Survivors include his children, Martha Young, David (Rosemary) Young and Lisa (Gregory) Haan of Winchester, Va.; children by marriage, Deborah Goodwin and Rebecca Lloyd; grandchildren, Jonathon (Shawna) Young, Andrew Lloyd, Lauren Haan, Megan Haan and Robert Jones; great grandchild, Lexi Young; and the future, Briar Young; cousin by marriage, Connie Pash of Anderson; sister-in-law, Wanda Young; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Young; father, Ernest Young; mother, Hazel Young; brothers, Ernest Darrell Young and Duane Thomas Young; and sister-in-law, Nancy Young.
Cremation will take place.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, 2751 N. Scatterfield Road, Anderson.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent's Chemo Lab for Ovarian Cancer Research in memory of his wife, Carole Sue Young, or to his children, directly, to assist with expenses.
