ALEXANDRIA — Sharon M. Kistler, 80, of Alexandria, died Sept. 15, 2013, at Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Alexandria to Thelma (Miller) Newcom. She has resided in the Alexandria/Anderson area most of her life.
Sharon was a graduate of Alexandria High School, Class of 1951. She had worked at T&J Tire of Anderson for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
Sharon enjoyed ceramics, people watching and attending church. She was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR.
Survivors include her husband, Edward “Eddie” Kistler whom she married March 6, 1954; three sons, Randy (Cheryl) Kistler of Anderson, Kevin (Nancy) Kistler of Lafayette, Kent (Judy) Kistler of Alexandria; grandchildren, Angie (Jay) Murphy, David (fiancee, Janelle) Kistler, Stephanie (Robert) Mix, Charles (Debbie) Slattery, all of Anderson, Jason (Krista) Kistler of Pendleton, Cory (Amanda) Kistler of Orestes, Jenna (Jordan) Stanley of Noblesville, Mindy (Kent) Stader and Robbie Alderson, all of Lafayette; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; former daughter-in-law, Brenda Kistler of Anderson; sisters, Margaret (Frank) Arehart of Ingalls and Ednabelle Sharp of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt and uncle who raised Sharon, John and Jessie Bennie, and brother, Shirley “Jack” Newcom.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Mike Konkle officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service time.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation through the funeral home.
