---- — KOKOMO — Former Anderson resident Albert M. Johnson, 82, Kokomo, died Sept. 24, 2013, at Community Howard Regional Health System.

Albert was born June 26, 1931, in Elwood, to Albert E. Johnson and Marguerite (Balser) Johnson.

On Jan. 8, 1954, he married Louise Stroud who preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 1982. On Feb. 5, 2000, he married Marjorie (Coady) Scionti, who survives.

Al, also called “Abe,” graduated from Anderson High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Ball State University in 1962. He was employed at Delco Remy Anderson, Security Division, where he became chief of investigations. In 1987, following 35 years of service, he retired from Delco Remy. Albert was instrumental in the development of the Central Indiana Law Enforcement Association.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie (Coady) Scointi Johnson, Kokomo; Andrew Johnson, wife Susan, son Christopher, Bedford; daughter, Heather McClain, husband Brad, and their daughters, Karsen and Kennedi, Pendleton; Alexis, husband Eric Scherrer, Muncie; son, Reed (married to Nikki), Kennett Square, Pa.; Lezlie Johnson, daughter, Amanda, Anderson; Jeffrey Johnson, son Conner, Anderson; James Johnson, wife Melinda, children Samuel, Lexi, and Sophia, Muncie; stepdaughters, Angela Cooper, husband, Alan, their children, Siena and Joseph, Lafayette; Catherine Scionti, husband Christopher Auron, Naples, Fla.; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Loving his family, attending to them, and being of assistance was the focus of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; his brother, Norman Johnson; his brother-in-law, Ronald Coady; and a stepson, Kevin Scionti.

In his later years, Albert with his Marjorie, spent winters in Palm Harbor, Fla., on Tarpon Lake. Browsing around the lake in the pontoon and evenings with friends making music created joyful memories.

Al was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo, and St. Luke’s in Palm Harbor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200W, Kokomo, with the Rev. Fr. Tim Kroeger the celebrant. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Navy and the Kokomo Veterans of Foreign Wars Military Rites Team. A graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.

Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo.
