PENDLETON — Carroll A. Ridgeway, 80, died Sept. 2, 2013, in Sedona, Ariz.
Born Oct. 21, 1932. Devoted husband of Gioia (Flosi).
Survivors include son, Martin; daughter, Michelle (Garcia); brothers, Gerald (Barbara) and Ronald; stepson, Larry Garnello (Denise) of Arizona. Grandsons, Justin (Kristin), Geoffrey (Heather) Martin and Anthony; and granddaughters, Jenna (Ivan), Nicole and Jessica; great-grandson, Calvin; stepsisters, Sue Snideman and Annalou Johnson.
Preceding him in death, daughter, Theresa (Hege); parents, Arthur and Mildred (Gale); stepdad, Dean Arnett; and stepmother, Hessell Ridgeway.
His marriage to Gioia was filled with wonderful years, spending retirement traveling, camping and visiting relatives and friends all over the country. Spending winters in Florida and summers in their camper near Gatlinburg, Tenn. Carroll never met a stranger, became friends with everyone anywhere. Always had a smile and a cheerful word, was quick to help anyone in need. He loved playing cards. And he was a winner!
Carroll was born on his father’s farm in Henry County. A 1951 graduate of Pendleton High School, he served in the U.S. Navy. Employed at IBM from 1957 until retirement in 1988. He earned many citations and awards for his engineering knowledge and expertise and outstanding dedication.
Throughout health problems in later years he remained upbeat and optimistic. He was loved by many, and will be missed by all!
Memorial service and interment will be at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Ovid, on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m.
