ANDERSON — Helen L. Coffey, 84, passed away Oct. 1, 2013, after a brief illness.
She was born March 24, 1929, in Jamestown, Ky., the youngest child of W. Otha and Lenora (Helm) Loy.
Helen moved to Anderson after high school and began work at Delco Remy. She met Bill, her future husband, here and they were married on Dec. 2,1948.
Helen retired from Delco Remy in 1976 after 30 years of employment. For most of those years she worked in Plants 11 and 20. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and volunteered for many years at Community Hospital in Anderson. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Vicki Builta; two grandsons, Grant Builta and Cole Builta; three sisters, Anna Frazee, Edith Dunbar and Audrey Ping; sister-in-law, Geraldine Loy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Jim Blackmon, and James and Mary Coffey.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, E.W. (Bill) Coffey in 2007; and several of her brothers and sisters.
Helen’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of both Jefferson House and Lincoln House assisted-living facilities in Yorktown for their loving care and support of Helen during her years of residence there.
A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family.
