ANDERSON — Joan Dietz, 81, of Anderson, died Oct. 29, 2013, at Community Northview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Joan was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Covington, Ky.
She was the food service manager for Pay Less Super Markets for 35 years before retiring on Sept. 19, 1997.
She graduated from Anderson High School.
She was a member of East Lynn Christian Church; Chapter 591 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as a past matron; Bethesda White Shrine, where she served as Past Worthy High Priestess; past president of Past Worthy Priestess Club; and past president of State White Shrine Association.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Edward Dietz of Anderson, whom she married Aug. 20, 1949, in Chesterfield; daughter, Donna (Irvan) Plummer of Georgia; son, Tom (Thelma) Dietz of Anderson; one sister, Shirley Runge of Covington, Ky.; two brothers, Leslie (Mary Ann) Fulmer of Covington, Ky., and Hugh Fulmer of Florida; a sister-in-law, Zelma Trueblood of Anderson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by son, Stephen Dietz; and three siblings.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Susan Cameron officiating. Entombment will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or East Lynn Christian Church Food Pantry.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Eddy, Dr. Blankenship, and Dr. Kelly Riggs and the staff at Community Northview for the special care of Joan during her illness.
