ANDERSON — Deaconess Dorothy N. Davis, 79, of Anderson transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.
Deaconess Dorothy was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Troy, Ala., to the late Calvin Pateman and Lucy Boswell. She confessed her faith in Christ at a young age.
She was married to the late Deacon Cleatis A. Davis for 48 years and was a homemaker.
Deaconess Dorothy Davis served as a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 40 years. She served on the Usher Board and the Deaconess Ministry for many years. She has taught Sunday school, BTU, and VBS and was a member of the Senior Ministry, Pastor Aid Ministry, Pastor Anniversary Committee. She faithfully attended Bible Study and Prayer Services until her health declined.
Her hobbies were fishing and gardening.
She leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Neoma Poole; sisters-in-law, Lottie Wheeler and Mary L.H. Wheeler; aunt, Lessie Carlton; special niece, Verdell Hooten; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleatis A Davis; sisters, Thelma Boswell, Anise Rayford, Elsie Gibson, Viola Lewis; brothers, Leon Wheeler and Johnny D. Wheeler; special nephew, Will H. Scaine; and other relatives.
The family of Deaconess Dorothy Davis would like to express our great appreciation to Eaton Ambulance Service, Hoosier Homecare, Dr. Sarin, Dr. Harmening, Dr. Cocco, Dr. Eliades and staff, and Anderson Dialysis Clinic for their acts of kindness and concern.
The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1540 W. 16th St. Funeral services will be noon Friday at the church with Rev. Dr. Edgar M. Woodall officiating.
Friends may also view one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
