ANDERSON — Alfred Keith Martz, 67, of Anderson died April 7, 2014, at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born May 24, 1946, in Anderson, to Paul and Clytis (Warfel) Martz. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1964.
He worked for Vectren Gas Co. for 30 years before retiring in 2009, Chesterfield Police Department for more than 30 years and E.G. Vernon & Son for 16 years.
He was a life member and chairman of the board of Anderson Auxiliary Police.
He liked to bowl, hunt, fish and spend time with granddaughters. He worked security for the Indianapolis Colts for four years.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Christina (Peters) Martz, whom he married Oct. 12, 1974; mother-in-law, Mary Peters of Deputy, Ind.; daughter, Angela Martz of Middletown, Ohio; son, Brian (Kelina) Martz of Anderson; sister, Paula Bailey of Alexandria; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Peters of Deputy, Ind., and Barbara (Bruce) Funk of Anderson; two brothers-in-law, Bill Bagley of Anderson and Michael Peters of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Keilye Martz and Kaylyan Martz; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Byron “Bud” Martz; and his sister, Georgiana Bagley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Velma Marling officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital for Children.
