HOUSTON, Texas — Patty Ann Shafer, 78, of Houston, passed away Feb. 28, 2014, in Houston, Texas.
She was born on April 15, 1935, in Anderson , and resided in Anderson, as well as Fort Myers and Houston.
Pat graduated from Anderson High School and attended Hanover College .
She was retired from Wellington and Sons Realtors in Anderson and Kelly Cove Realty in Fort Myers.
She was an amazing example of perseverance and resilience, no matter what the situation. Pat approached each new challenge with a sense of humor and determination to succeed and have fun doing it. Her family is deeply grateful to the many friends who stayed in touch during the years and made her journey even more meaningful.
Patty is survived by her son, Scott (Donna) Steger of Noblesville, Ind.; daughter, Susan Shafer of Houston, Texas; daughter, Cathy Wasserman (Paul) of Farmington Hills, Mich.; daughter, Christine Barcome (David) of Clarkston, Mich.; her sister, Thea Wellington (Dave) of Camano Island, Wash.; her brother, Frank Phelps (Joy) of Anderson, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Shafer; and her parents, Frank and Martha Phelps.
Appropriately, her celebration will take place at The Edge on Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m. (The former Edgewood Country Club, the location of many of Pat’s celebrations.)
