ELWOOD — Georgia A. Ellis, 83, lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
Georgia was born on July 1, 1930, in Elwood to the late Calvin and Helen (Hamilton) Fowler.
On March 11, 1947, she married George J. Ellis and he passed away on Feb. 11, 2013.
Georgia retired from Essex Wire in 1984 after many years of service. Georgia was an accomplished writer poet.
Georgia is survived by three daughters, Marcia Cranor, Tamara (Earl) Savage, and Michelle Estelle; one son, Nicholas (Vallee) Ellis; grandchildren, Stephen (Kim) Huston, Shawn (Dawn) Huston, Heather (Ed) Peavler, Dawn (Marty) Young, Jason Ellis, Rachel Ellis, Jeremy Savage, Trevor (Felicia) Savage, Brandon Estelle, Jocelyn Estelle, Zoe Estelle, and Chelsea Ellis; and several great-grandchildren; brother, Elmond Neese; sisters, Mildred Kendall, Barbara Boll, Karen Mann, Virgie Mast of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, George F. Ellis and Michael Ellis; daughter, Cindy L. Ellis; grandson, Tony Savage; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dunnichay Funeral Home with Pastor Tom King officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
