Lucille Harrold

Nov. 7, 1914 - June 21, 2013

SUMMITVILLE — Lucille Harrold, 98, passed away June 21, 2013, at Community Hospital Anderson, after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Summitville, the daughter of Ora and Effie (Dobson) Van Ness. She resided in Summitville most of her life, living in the house in which she was born.

Lucille was a graduate of Summitvillel High School, Class of 1932. She devoted her life, as a farm wife and homemaker, to the care and raising of her family.

She was a member of Summitville First Christian Church and its C.W.F. Guild; member of the T.F.O. Club and the former South and East Club of Summitville. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, formerly of Summitville, now of Fairmount, for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Rosenthall of Summitville; four grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Rosenthall of Carmel, Dr. Mark (Raean) Rosenthall of Yorktown, Cynthia (John) Hamilton of Greenfield and Michelle (Mark) Bonnell of Royal Center; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her special caregiver, Brenda Johnston.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Herb Harrold, who died in 2001; a son, Gordon Harrold; son-in-law, Roi Rosenthall; and three sisters, Marguerite Hamilton, Juanita Kilgore and Maxine Schultz.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, in the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville, officiated by the Rev. Roy Lee and Pastor Nathan Lutterman. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery, Summitville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
