PENDLETON — William Patrick Coggins, 64, of Pendleton, passed away on June 23, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on June 24, 1948, in Scranton, Pa. William graduated from Indiana State with a bachelor’s degree, and from Ball State with a master’s degree.
He was a teacher and coach for 42 years at the Ebbert Vocational School, Madison Heights and Anderson High School, teaching business and Co-op.
He coached football, baseball and track over his career. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
William is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kimberly (Burton) Coggins, whom he married Aug. 17, 1973; son, William Burton (Karissa) Coggins of Pendleton; daughter, Kelly Kathleen (James) Colwell of Anderson; sister, Kathleen (Kenneth) Steel of Valparaiso; brother, Michael Coggins of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Reid James Colwell, Emerson Kate Colwell, William Patrick Coggins and Connor David Coggins; and special nephew, Brett Steel.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Coggins; father, James Coggins Sr.; and his brother, James Coggins Jr.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Williams officiating. Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
He loved his family with all his heart. Yesterday would have been his 65th birthday. Please send a prayer our way.
