YORKTOWN, Ind. —
Carl Vernon Devers, 69, of Yorktown, died April 23, 2013, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family, following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Muncie, and was the son of the late Joseph R. Devers and Bernice L. (Paeth) Porter.
Carl retired from Delco Remy after 33 years of hardworking service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid Indiana Hoosiers fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Eugenia “Nell” (Deadman) Devers, of Yorktown; two children, son Jeffrey A. Devers of Muncie, and Michele D. Brown of Fishers; three grandchildren, Jeffrey C. “JC” Devers of Daleville, Katie E. and Michael H. Brown, both of Fishers; two sisters, Doris Jean Chambers (Richard) of Anderson, and Cindy Ninokawa (Cary) of Fullerton, Calif.; stepmother, Sue Devers of Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Betty Shafer of Michigan, Dana Shaw of Gaston, and Barbara McDaniel of Florida.
Funeral services for Carl will be 1 p.m. Friday at Garden View Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. up to the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
