ANDERSON — Roy R. Reid, 80, of Anderson died at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born June 14, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio, to Herald and Charlotte (Morrissey) Reid.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a staff sergeant.
He was a truck driver for Atlas Red-D Mix for 25 years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; past Commander of American Legion Post 469 in Frankton; member of AMVETS Post 0692; member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266 and Madison County Voiture 510, 40/8. He enjoyed boxing.
Survivors include his wife, Nila (Whirl) Reid of Anderson whom he married April of 2012 in Virginia; children, Dawn (Curt) Smith, Robin Stewart, Tracy Reid-Muhlhauser, Jackie Haney, Victoria Reid, Ronnie Reid and Debbie (David) Hollingsworth; stepchildren, Cris Schoup and Gene King; sister, Barbara (Richard) Holman; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy in 1978; and two grandsons, Roy and Brent.
Service of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entombment will be in East Maplewood Cemetery Mausoleum with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post 469.
