SUMMITVILLE — Jeannette Hoppes, 79, Summitville, died Oct. 7, 2013, at Community Hospital of Anderson after a brief illness.
She was born June 30, 1934, in Summitville, the daughter of Basil Owens and Esther (Carpenter) Owens, and was a lifetime Summitville resident.
Jeannette graduated from Summitville High School, Class of 1952. She was a homemaker and devoted herself to caring for her family. She was a member of the Skoshi Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Summitville Fire Department and the Summitville Baptist Church. Jeannette enjoyed TV sporting events, was an avid supporter of Madison-Grant athletics and a fan of Purdue, the Cubs and the Colts.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Stephen) Waller of Summitville; two sons, Bruce (Michelle) Hoppes of Fishers, and Andy (Christina) Hoppes of Pendleton; four grandchildren, Lee Hoppes, Alison Hoppes, Kelsey Hoppes and Jessie Waller; brother, Jack (Bertha) Owens of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 48 years, Jackson “Jake” Hoppes in 2002
Services will take place at noon Saturday at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville, with Brian Wise officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
