---- — ALEXANDRIA — Nila Sue Stevens, 79, Alexandria, died Dec. 3, 2013, at St. Vincent-Mercy Hospital, Elwood, after a sudden illness.

She was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Alexandria, the daughter of William Semon and Audrey (Johnson) Semon, and resided in the Alexandria area most of her lifetime.

Sue had worked for Essex Wire of Elwood and more recently at Red Lobster in Anderson. She was a long-standing member of the Orestes Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship of the church. She was an avid card player, and enjoyed “Farmtown” on FaceBook.

Survivors include her son, Glenn (Jenny) Stevens of Alexandria; daughter, Cindy (Thomas) Adams of Ozark, Ark.; special niece, Rita Shelton of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Greg Stevens and Jami Stevens; two great-granddaughters, Willow Stevens and Raven Myers; three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; special brother-in-law, Carrol Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, John Stevens Jr. in 2001; brother, Travis “Tad” Semon; and two sisters, Patty Hays and Phyllis Featherston.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Courtley Granger officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Orestes Christian Church through the funeral home.
