ANDERSON, Ind. —
Norma R. (Shinkle) Edmonson, 88, lifetime Anderson resident, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Rawlins House in Pendleton, following an extended illness.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1924, in Anderson, the daughter of Alvin C. and Laura (Stilley) Shinkle. She was a 1942 graduate of Anderson High School. She and her husband, Robert Edmonson, who preceded her in death, owned and operated Edmonson Carpet Cleaners in Anderson from 1956 to 1974. She later worked part time as a greeter for Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Slate of Gulfport, Fla., and her son, Robert P. Edmonson of Anderson; two grandchildren, Ryan (wife Misty) Clendenen of Anderson and Kelly Jo (husband Shane) Kimmerling of Anderson; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Brayden, Kelsey, Tommy and Molly.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care Norma received at Rawlins House, especially the attention from Jess and Julie.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three brothers, Earl, James and Clarence Shinkle.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Steve Gettinger. Entombment will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Madison County Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
