---- — ANDERSON — Cordelia E. (Chambers) Sylvester, 87, of Anderson, passed away on Oct. 17, 2013, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus, Anderson. She was born on Aug. 11, 1926 in Indianapolis and resided most of her life in Anderson.
Cordelia was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Madison County Clerk’s Office as a GOP member of Absentee Voting for 20 years, Pink Lady at Community Hospital for 40 years, GOP Precinct Vice-Chairman for 40 years, Wright Extension Club, and Beta Sigma Phi, receiving the 60-year diamond degree. She also served as the secretary for the Madison County Women’s Club for several years and St. Matthews United Methodist Church.
Cordelia and her husband enjoyed dancing and traveling, visiting all 50 states and abroad, spending time at their lake cottage, and fishing.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Cordelia was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Norval Denson Sylvester; and parents, George O. Chambers and Margaret (Egbert) Chambers.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson.
Services will be held Monday, October 21, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Helm officiating.
Burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery.
