ALEXANDRIA — Larry L. Walser, 71, Alexandria, died Nov. 5, 2013, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Elwood, the son of Francis Walser and Emma (Morgan) Walser, and resided in the Summitville-Alexandria area all of his lifetime.
Larry was a graduate of the Indiana Deaf School in Indianapolis. He had worked at canning factories in Summitville, Orestes and Alexandria. He had worked at Allen’s Turkey Farm and Jones Dairy. He helped a lot of friends and family in their yards. He attended the Summitville Wesleyan Methodist Church for most of his lifetime. More recently he attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria. He enjoyed the outdoors, Elvis, cowboy shows and working puzzles. Larry loved people, and he especially loved to make them laugh.
Survivors include two sisters, Carol Friend and Mary Walser (John Stookey), all of Alexandria; brother, David (Karen) Walser of Anderson; five nephews, Brad Everingham, Gregory Stookey, Tony (Morgan) Sparks, Damon (Stormee) Friend and Jon Walser; four nieces, Brandi Friend, Selena Everingham, Tori Walser and Becca Walser; several great-nieces and great-nephews; three stepbrothers, Darrel (Charlotte) Norris, Clell (Colleen) Norris Jr., and Michael (Zora) Norris; and two stepsisters, Betty Rogers and Patricia (Paul Jr.) Quinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Wahneeta McCombs Walser; grandmother, Nina (Hazelbaker) Walser; and brother-in-Law, Phil Friend.
Services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Revs. Harrison Williams and James Meek officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery at Summitville.
Friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
