Charles A. Davis, 80, of Anderson, died November 8, 2013.
Charles was born on January 21, 1933, in Indianapolis, to Lester and Sallie Delaney Davis. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and served in the United States Army. Charles was a flat bed semi-truck driver for Central Steel and Wire for 37 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 135, American Legion Post 117, where he was a past Commander, and held several other offices. Charles also organized a Christmas toy drive at the American Legion. He was a past president of the neighborhood association at Fletcher Place in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Davis; children, Terry Redd, Charles Davis II of Waskom, Texas, Edra Berryman, Rene Reiley, Shawn Swindell (Trent) of Alexandria, Rachel Wensel (Chris) of Middletown, Dawn Reiley of Anderson, Debbie Roberts (Ralph), Jerry Charter (Patricia), and Brenda Aughenbaugh (Wayne) of Indianapolis; siblings, Edith Staples and David Davis (Barbara) of Indianapolis; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Carletta Davis; grandson, Michael Roberts; brother, George Davis; and son-in-law, Curtis Redd.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the American Legion Post 117 for the Christmas toy drive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St. Pendleton, 46064. Visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Charles will be laid to rest at Grovelawn Cemetery.
