---- — ALEXANDRIA — Adrienne E. Owen, 79, Alexandria, died Nov. 8, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 21, 1934, in Anderson, the daughter of the late David W. and Margaret (Miller) Burnett, she had been a lifelong resident of Alexandria.
Adrienne was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1952 and she attended Purdue University. She worked as a receptionist for several years for Dr. Stuart Sweeney, ODS, and then later for Dr. Albert Happel, ODS. However, she devoted her life to the care and nurturing of her family as a homemaker.
She was a member of the Alexandria First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to Tri Kappa, Art Circle and the Garden Club. She received great pleasure from gardening and bird watching. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking — especially with and for her family — handwork, and she was an avid reader. Adrienne was a true lady whose beautiful smile will be fondly remembered.
Survivors include her sons, David (Debbie) Moorman-Bedford and Andrew (Jena) Moorman of Alexandria; her daughters, Melinda (John) Baumunk of Sevierville, Tenn., and Suzanne (Barry) Morphew of Arcadia; eight grandchildren, Christopher Moorman, Erik Moorman, Rachel (Vince) Stowell, Ben Wyatt, Emalee Wyatt, Alix Moorman, Mallory Morphew, and Macy Morphew; a great-grandson, Mason Stowell; her stepmother, Helen Burnett of Indianapolis; her former husband and father of her four children, Gene (LouAnn) Moorman of Mears, Mich.; cousins, Joan Stairs of New Castle, Catherine Gay of Borrego Springs, Calif.; stepsons, Jim Owen and Tom Owen; stepdaughters, Cathy Oplinger and Annie Owen-Bartley; step-granddaughters, Marianne (Jordan) Holsinger and Bronwyn Bartley; and sisters-in-law, Lou (Bob) Benefiel and Lela Mae (Ron) Fuel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dr. Thomas F. Owen.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 114 West Broadway, Alexandria. Pastor Dave Mantor and Chaplain Rob Mifflin will officiate. Interment will take place in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
