ANDERSON — Paula W. Burkett, 86, Anderson, passed away June 14, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born June 25, 1926, in Dietfurt, Germany, the daughter of the late Wolfgang and Walburga (Hassfurter) Wiedenhofer. She moved to Anderson in 1960 and retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors with more than 20 years service and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Paula was a wonderful, loving mother and Oma to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. She left a legacy of many special and memorable moments to her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed providing and accompanying each grandchild on a trip to her childhood home in Bad Toelz, Germany.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael P. (Sheree) Burkett and Robert G. Burkett; eight grandchildren, Michael R. Burkett, Emily McGovern, Aaron Burkett, Benjamin Case, Melissa Young, Paula Swafford, Justin Voos and Jonathon Voos; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Burkett; two daughters, Theresa Voos and Patricia Case; three sisters and one brother, Anni Deisenrieder, Elisabeth Wiedenhofer, Maria Theresia Max and Rupert Wiedenhofer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Mark Walter officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
