INDIAN SHORES, Fla. — Dr. Gregory Tipton, 61, of Indian Shores, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2014 after a battle with cancer.
Greg was from Anderson where he retired as an Optometrist after 31 years. He moved to Florida and started a new career as a painter for Lowe’s Paint Company.
His death will be mourned by his loving wife, Debbie Tipton; his dear children, Bo Tipton, Shawn Tipton, Sarah Miller and Greg Alan Tipton and his wife, Ruth; his mother, Diane Tipton; mother-in-law, Eileen Green; sisters, Darah and Jenny Tipton; seven grandchildren; his little dog, Suzie, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Tipton and sister, Marcia Tipton.
Greg was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his son, Greg Alan, coach basketball at Seminole High School. He also enjoyed going to Rays baseball games. Greg invested many years coaching youth basketball and baseball in Pendleton, volunteering his time to teach children the games he loved playing.
While his passing is untimely, he faced death bravely and confidently knowing his heart was right with the Lord. He humbly remarked about how fortunate he was to have lived such a wonderful life. Much like his favorite sport, Greg hit the ball, touched them all and made it to home, that brown eyed handsome man. In lieu of flower, donations can be made to Seminole High School Basketball or Suncoast Hospice.
A private celebration of life will be held in Greg’s memory. See online guestbook @ www.reesefuneral.com and www.theheraldbulletin.com.
