ANDERSON — Robert J. Wood, of Anderson, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Anderson, and lived here all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked at Delco Remy as a pipe fitter, retiring in 1993.
Robert was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 40 & 8 Voiture 510 where he was a past Chef de Gare, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Anderson, and the 44th Engineer Battalion Association.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri (Frye) Wood of Anderson; five children, Susan (husband, John) Dowling of Anderson, Ginger (husband, Dave) Caylor of Anderson, Michelle (husband, Sean) Jones of Indianapolis, Michael (fiance’, Kelli Frazier) Reasoner of Anderson, and Nikki (husband, Shawn) Carter of Anderson; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Schang.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with the Rev. Keith Wooden officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
