ANDERSON -- Jennie Lee Purdy, 85, of Anderson, passed away July 7, 2014, at Countryside Manor Health Care in Anderson.
She was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Shirley, and resided most of her life in Anderson.
Jennie graduated from Maxwell High School and retired as a telephone operator at Indiana Bell after 27 years of service. She also worked as a nurse’s assistant at Rolling Hills and for Community Hospital.
She attended Park Place Church of God and was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church. She loved to sell Tupperware, bowling at East Side Lanes, playing the organ and spending time with her family and friends.
Jennie is survived by her loving sons, Mike Purdy of Anderson, Ronald Purdy of Anderson and Mark (Michelle) Purdy of Chesterfield; cousin Chuck LaValley of Greenfield; grandchildren Mason Purdy, Matthew Purdy and Megan Purdy, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Purdy; mother, Mary Zornes; and her father, John Zornes.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor John Hackney officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park.
