Charles R. Maynard

Jan. 16, 1931 — March 24, 2012

SUMMITVILLE, Ind. — Charles Robert “Bob” Maynard, 81, passed away March 24, 2012, at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson, Ind., following an extended illness.  

He was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Alexandria, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Johnson) Maynard, and had resided in the Alexandria-Summitville areas most of his lifetime.

Bob was a graduate of Summitville High School, Class of 1949.

He entered the U.S. Navy in 1951, during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged as a Machinist’s Mate 2nd class in 1955.

He worked in the Power House at Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson, and retired after 33 years. He also enjoyed farming and retired in 2009.

Bob was a member of Alexandria First Baptist Church. He served as a member of the Boone Township Advisory Board. He belonged to the Frankton Antique Tractor Association. Bob enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR, antique tractor pulls, raising mini-horses and restoring old tractors. Bob was a good and loyal friend to many. He was a hard worker and always ready to help anyone in need. He loved his Lord and his family. He was so pleased to see the Lett family return from South Korea with Baby Hank and Corin, his great-grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Monzell (Fecher) Maynard, whom he married Sept. 17, 1951; sons, Gregory Maynard of Twin Lakes, Wisc., and Brad (Lynda) Maynard of Murphy, Texas; grandchildren, Trenten Maynard and Lindsey (Taylor) Lett, all in Texas, and Sara Maynard in Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Shelby Maynard, Austin Maynard, Corin Lett and Hank Lett; brother, Richard (Donna) Maynard of Summitville; nieces and nephews; and two aunts.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Maynard; and a great-grandson, Owen Lett.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, officiated by Pastor Michael Deutsch. Interment will follow at Forrestville Cemetery in Boone Township.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Alexandria First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
