ANDERSON, Ind. —
Lulean Tinsley Dabney, 84, passed away peacefully May 24, 2011.
Lulean was born July 12, 1926, in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Ludy and Eula (Daniel) Tinsley.
Lulean moved to Anderson in 1997 from Montgomery, Ala., and enjoyed the remainder of her life with friends and family. Lulean gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Jackson Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. After moving to Anderson in 1997, she joined New Hope United Methodist Church. She loved going to church, cooking and gardening.
Lulean leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Annie Lee Miller; five daughters, Louise (Carwon) Jones, Mary Steans, Easter Dabney, Elizabeth Phelan and Rosetta Dabney, all of Anderson; four sons, Ralph (Teresa) Dabney Jr. of Muncie, John and Robert Dabney of Anderson, and George (Deborah) Dabney of Montgomery, Ala.; goddaughter, Mary (Johnnie) Jackson; one brother-in-law, Leon (Sherry) Dabney; a sister-in-law, Rosa Holt; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Lois and Betty Richardson. Lulean will also be missed by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lulean was preceded in death by her husband Ralph “R.F.” Dabney; parents, Ludy and Eula (Daniel) Tinsley; sisters, Laura Stevenson, Martha Williams, Easter M. Richardson and Victoria Holt; brothers, John Tinsley and Dave Holt Sr.; grandson, Ralph Dabney III; daughter-in-law, Diane Dabney; and her very devoted son-in-law, Harold Steans.
Homegoing services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at New Hope U.M. Church, 1503 Rev. J.T. Menifee St., Anderson, with the Rev. Dr. Reginald Lee officiating. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
