Lillian Frances Hudson

Jan. 21, 1926 - April 19, 2013

LITTLETON, Colo. — Lillian Frances Hudson, formerly Frances H. Bronnenberg, age 87, died on April 19, 2013, in Littleton, Colo., after an extended illness.

She was born in Anderson, Ind., where she attended local schools, and later graduated magna cum laude from Duke University, Durham, N.C., where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She later obtained a masters degree in foreign languages and the equivalent of a masters in counseling psychology at Ball State University, Muncie, Ind. She had been assistant professor of Foreign Languages at Ball State and then director of Pupil Personnel Services at Burris Laboratory School of Ball State University for 12 years before moving to Colorado in 1977. After three years in Boulder, she moved to Denver where she was legal assistant to Keith Vandenberge, attorney, for 25 years. For 12 years she taught English as a Second Language at the Community College of Denver.

She is the daughter of Harry Earl Hudson Sr. and Julia May Van Matre Hudson, who preceded her in death. Also predeceasing her were two brothers, Russel C. Hudson and Harry E. Hudson Jr.; two sisters, Mary Louise Halloway and Virginia Wagner; and one daughter, Marcia Bronnenberg.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Fran Bronnenberg Refvem of Novato, Calif., and Julie Bronnenberg Weaver of Pilot, Va.; four grandsons, James Donald Refvem III, Alexander Hudson Refvem, James Howell and Ethan Howell; and one great-grandson, Odin Refvem.

A memorial service will be held in the parlor at the First United Methodist Church in Anderson on Thursday, May 9, at 2 p.m. Burial after cremation will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
